The first date from the site I had joined I was feeling optimistic. I lost an hour of my life forever as I sat with this guy who had the charisma of a snail. Actually, snails can be quite charming, this guy had the charisma of a slug. A dead one. I would rather have spent that hour watching snails racing in slow motion. Meeting on a Sunday afternoon in a pub on Embankment for a roast seemed like the perfect setting to a first date. But after fifty minutes of me busting my balls, trying to get him to give me answers other than yes and no, I had given up. Half way through my overpriced leg of chicken with veg, I kindly told him this wasn’t working, I shook his hand, wished him luck and left. The only regret I have from that date was that I didn’t ask to take the rest of my chicken and roast potatoes home with me in a doggie bag.
